VISA Check Card

It looks like a credit card, but works like a check!

  • It's hassle-free! Forget about writing checks and paying interest on credit cards. Your purchases are automatically deducted from your checking account.

  • It's convenient. The Red Wing Check Card is accepted everywhere the Visa logo is displayed.

  • It's an ATM card. You can access cash from your savings or checking account from any automated teller machine displaying a Cirrus or Shazam logo.

  • No fees! This service has no-annual fee or per-transaction fee. Withdrawals at Red Wing CU’s drive-up ATM also carry no fee. ATM transactions completed elsewhere are charged a $1.00 surcharge in addition to any fee the originating bank sets.

Surcharge-Free ATMs
A surcharge is a fee charged by the financial institution to non-customers who use their ATM machine. Our members have access to a large network of surcharge-free ATMs. Check out this list of Privileged Status ATMs from SHAZAM, one of the largest regional electronic funds transfer (EFT) networks.

Are You "Card Smart"?

ATM cards and check/debit cards provide members the added convenience of accessing their money around the clock and around the world. So, how much do you know about these cards? Take this quiz and find out how "card smart" you are.

Q: What is the difference between an ATM card, a check card and a credit card?

A: ATM and debit cards connect directly to your savings or checking accounts electronically for ATM transactions. In addition, you can make purchases at retailers with your check card and the purchases are electronically withdrawn from your checking account. You may also use your ATM or check card to make deposits into your account. A credit card allows you to charge any amount up to your established credit limit.

Q: What is the meaning of PIN?

A: Your Personal Identification Number (PIN) is a secret number known only to you and allows you to access your account by using your card. NEVER write your PIN on your ATM or check card. Always keep your PIN in a secure place away from your card.

Q: What transactions can you complete at an ATM?

A: Most ATMs offer the following services:

  • Checking and/or savings account balance inquiries
  • Make deposits where available
  • Withdraw cash
  • Transfer funds between your checking and savings accounts

Q: Where can you use your ATM and check cards?

A: ATM cards can be used at ATMs. Check cards can also be used at ATMs, for PIN-based or signature purchases. Check cards expand your shopping capabilities to most stores that accept MasterCard or VISA worldwide. The funds are deducted directly from your checking account.

Electronic banking is fast, efficient, and safe. You can get the most from your ATM or check card by knowing what it can do and how to use it wisely. In other words. . .Be "card smart"!
